Meet Dr. Kerksick

Q. What did you do before you joined RevolutionEHR?

I distinctly remember getting my first pair of contacts when I was a Sophomore in High School.  I was completely enamored with what that process entailed and from that moment, I knew that I wanted to be an optometrist.  After finishing optometry school, my dream was to own my own practice.  After graduating, I started my practice cold and really loved the challenge that private practice offered.  My practice was in a small town, very similar to where I grew up so I always felt right at home getting to know patients within the community.  Patients, over time, become an extended part of your family. I loved getting to experience that every day.

Q. Why did you decide to join the RevolutionEHR team?

I was in the process of selling my practice due to relocation.  My husband’s business was based almost two hundred miles from mine and the lengthy commute became grueling so I made the very hard decision to sell.  In a phone conversation with then RevolutionEHR CEO, Dr. Scott Jens, I shared with him my plans and my anxiety to all of that.  I distinctly remember saying, “I know my exit plan but I don’t have a clue what will be next for me”.  Little did I know that discussion was the next step!  It’s been such an amazing transition.  I love working with the customers.  I get to live vicariously through them:  their successes, their stresses, all of it. And, it’s awesome because I get to be a part of that.

Q. What is your role at RevolutionEHR?

Serving as the Director of Professional Relations enables me to interact with the customer.  I help offices streamline their workflow and better position RevolutionEHR within their workflow processes.

Q. How does your practice experience help you in this role?

My experience brings an aspect of credibility that I wouldn’t have otherwise.  Since I’ve lived it, my perspective has more credibility.  Often times, I’m asking doctors to do things to their workflow processes that require change and change is uncomfortable.  Being able to tell them that they can trust me because I’ve lived it makes all the difference.

Q. What are you passionate about?

I love optometry and it is so much fun when I can help practices enjoy greater success and bring their stress level down so they can leave work and go enjoy their family.  As a Mom of two boys, I love feeling accomplished when 5:00pm hits so I can devote my time and attention to my kids.  As a result, I’m committed to helping practices achieve that same sense of balance.
